Imagine Award

A big thank you to Tasty Treats 13’s Blog for this fantastic award!  Make sure you check out that blog, if you haven’t already!

3-5 Things I like about Tasty Treats 13’s blog:

  • I love the concept!  A dessert blog about bringing desserts to school for a project.  So creative!
  • In case you didn’t catch it….a DESSERT blog!  My favorite kind.  There are other recipes too, but, let’s face it.  I’m all about the desserts!
  • I love the variety that this blog offers.  From cakes to cookies to pies and everything in between!

What is The Imagine Award?

“The Imagine Award” is an award created by Jenn Mulherin (who is the writer of the blog “My Fibrotastic Life!”) in October of 2013. This award was made in order to recognize the bloggers who express their passion and dedication towards their blogs through their creativity.

How is creativity found in a blog?

Just like beauty, creativity is in the eye of the beholder. There are many unique ways which bloggers can express their creativity. Creativity can be displayed through:

Words (such as writing fictional stories or real life experiences, poetry, quotes, using metaphors, etc.)
Pictures (this can include photos, comics, computer-drawn pictures, etc.)
Videos
The layout of the blog page
The degree of creativity is one of the qualities in a blog which not only draws more readers, but it shows how much the blogger cares about their blog. The caretaking of a blog is like taking care of a plant. In order to keep it healthy and growing, you need to feed the blog with your ideas and give it a lot of love.

If I am nominated for The Imagine Award…then what??

Now, the details:

  1.  Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2013’ Award
  2. Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there are no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ the blog(s) with their award.
  3. Let the blog(s) that you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the instructions with them – (please don’t alter the instructions or the badges!)
  4. Come over and say hello to the originator of the ‘Blog of the Year 2013’ Award via this link – http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/blog-awards-2/blog-of-the-year-2013-award/
  5. You can now also join the ‘Blog of the Year’ Award Facebook page – click the link here  https://www.facebook.com/groups/BlogoftheYear/ and share your blog posts with an even wider audience.
  6. And as a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog … and start collecting stars…

Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!

When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favorite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

You can find all the badges, banners and information you need here: ‘Blog of the Year 2013′ Award Badges

Liebster Award

18 Nov

As you might have guessed by now, I started this project in August because I’m a little nuts I love cupcakes.  I love baking period…obviously.  Pretty much all food.  Big fan.

Well, today I got a wonderful compliment from a fellow blogger!  Alexandra from Sweaterchef nominated me for the Liebster Award.  Thanks, Alexandra!!

liebster-award

I was super excited about this, even though I wasn’t quite sure what it meant.  So, I did a little research.  This is the description I found about The Liebster Award from We Loved Here.

The Liebster Award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. So, what is a Liebster?  The meaning: Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. Isn’t that sweet? Blogging is about building a community and it’s a great way to connect with other bloggers and help spread the word about newer bloggers/blogs.

Pretty cool, huh?  Bloggers supporting other bloggers.  I can totally get in with that!  So here we go:

Rules:
– Link to the person who nominated you
– Answer their questions
– Nominate new blogs for the award
– Ask them 10 new questions
– Let the nominees know they have been nominated

My Answers:

What inspired you to create a blog?

I was constantly looking at blogs, food websites and food magazines for new recipes.  My husband suggested that I start a blog.  That way I could write about my experiences in the kitchen, what I like about recipes and what I might change.

Has it been a passion of yours for a long time?

I have 2 aunts (one on each side) who love to bake and inspired me from a very young age, but I didn’t start baking myself until high school. (So, yes.  A long time.)

Are you doing what you love for work?

Almost.  I bake every day.  As well as write.  But, most of all, I write music and play guitar.  I just don’t consider those “work”.

Have you ever visited another country?  Where?

I’ve been extremely lucky in travel.  I’ve been to Germany (two times), Australia, Sweden, Estonia, Russia, Finland, Denmark, Portugal, Bermuda, France, Monaco, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Spain, Mexico and Canada.

What is your best skill?

My best skill is probably music.  I’ve been studying since I was very, very young.

Do you have a mentor?

Not in my professional life, but the person that I looked up to most would be my grandmother, who spent most of her life paving the way for women, so we could be whatever we want to be.

What is your favorite food?

Chinese food.  Totally addicted.  (Surprisingly, not dessert, I know.)  Though chocolate and/or sour candy definitely come in at a close 2nd.

How about your favorite holiday?

Christmas.  So many good memories.  From family to friends to just being at home with my hubby.

What was your best subject?

Music was always my best, but I was also pretty good at math.

How many languages do you speak? Which one/s?

I only speak English fluently.  I speak a little Spanish (from my time living in Miami) and I am currently working on learning French.
