Well, it’s Wednesday again. Hump Day. Again. So, I thought, why not a little taste of the weekend to get us through? Yes, please! Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey Cupcakes (recipe below from Creative Culinary). That’ll do…that’ll do.
They are a little muffin-like in texture. Almost corn muffin. They have a sweet, whiskey flavor. A little vanilla. Mostly honey whiskey. But not an alcohol ‘burning’ flavor. Just the taste of whiskey.
The glaze is a syrup consistency. Tastes like a sweet, honey whiskey syrup. Plain and simple. The frosting is creamy and fluffy. It gets a little ‘wet’ looking, but if you keep stirring or beating, it’ll work itself out. It tastes like a sweet buttercream then the Jack hits you just at the end. It’s not a strong, burn-your-throat alcohol frosting at all. Note: I only needed about ½ the cream that it calls for.
These are definitely a Jack Daniels cupcake. No doubt about it. The flavor is stronger when you put all of the pieces together. But, and I’m still shocked, it still doesn’t have that bite. That burn. Ya know, like whiskey usually does. It’s really interesting. I like it. It’s sweet. It’s whiskey. But in cupcake form. No burn. I don’t know how they did it, but I’m glad they did!
Note: My local liquor store apparently doesn’t carry Jack Daniel’s Honey Whiskey, so I used this to make my own. It worked beautifully!! And, can save you a little money if you already have regular Jack in your house.

Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey Cupcakes (recipe from Creative Culinary)
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 3 Tbsp Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey
- 3 Tbsp Milk
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
- 2 Tbsp Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (as much as needed to get correct consistency)
