Day 171 – Texas Sheet Cake Cupcakes

18 Jan

Ok.  So.  We’ve done one Texas Sheet Cake already.  But, those were white.  These are chocolate.  Oh yeah!!  Texas Sheet Cake Cupcakes (recipe below from Key Ingredient).  Will they hold up to the white ones?  I mean, they were pretty good.  Let’s check it out!

The cupcakes are dense and sticky, but with a slight crunch on the top.  They taste very much like a chocolate Texas sheet cake. A little gooey. Sweet chocolate flavor.

Note: They really stick to the paper lining, so give ’em a good spray as well.

The frosting is a thick glaze. It sets rather quickly, so be prepared to spoon it on as soon as you make it!  It has a sweet chocolate flavor. Not too rich though, and very smooth.

This tastes a lot like the wet chocolate cake my aunt used to make me for my birthday every year. It’s not an overly stated cupcake. Simple. Sweet. Chocolatey. Down home goodness at it’s best.

Note: This is a great cupcake for throwing them together in a pinch. It’s gonna be a classic hit for any chocolate enthusiast!
